Green Bay, Wis.—The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay announced today that its student body which attends in-person classes at any of its four campuses (Marinette, Green Bay, Manitowoc and Sheboygan) has reached the 70 percent vaccination rate, encouraged by UW System President Tommy Thompson as part of UW System’s 70 for 70 campaign.

“I continue to be incredibly proud of how our students have persevered throughout the pandemic,” said UW-Green Bay Chancellor Michael Alexander. “We want students to continue to have an amazing experience at UW-Green Bay. The 70% vaccination milestone helps everyone stay safe and on track to reach their educational goals.”

Under the UW System’s “70 for 70” campaign, fully vaccinated students who attend universities that reach the 70 percent threshold, based on fall 2020 full-time-equivalent enrollment, and excluding students studying only online, are eligible to win one of 70 scholarships valued at $7,000. UW-Green Bay students are eligible for four of those scholarships. UW-Stevens Point also announced today that they have reached the 70 percent threshold.

“I’m thrilled the students of UW-Stevens Point and UW-Green Bay are getting vaccinated,” said System President Tommy Thompson. “It’s quite an accomplishment, and a credit to all those on campus who helped achieve it.”

About 80% of UW-Green Bay faculty and staff submitted their verification of vaccination. Of the 2,000 students who live on the Green Bay Campus, 76 percent have submitted verification of vaccination. Students who live on campus and don’t submit verification undergo weekly surveillance testing for COVID-19.

UW-Green Bay updates its COVID-19 Dashboard each Friday with the most updated testing/vaccination information.
