Awesome alum: Skateboarding cop is UW-Green Bay grad

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel posted a great story and video Tuesday (July 1) about skateboarding cop and UW-Green Bay alumnus Joel Zwicky. The 1997 Psychology grad is making headlines for his innovative patrol style, taking his custom-designed longboard (it even has red-and-blue lights) to the Fox River Trail and elsewhere to engage with the community and keep an eye out for crime. The Journal Sentinel explains how the Kewaunee native toured with a rock band for seven years before earning his bachelor’s degree here and eventually ending up with the Green Bay PD. It took some convincing before Zwicky’s supervisors bought the skateboard patrol idea, but now they’re on board — er, no pun intended. Full story.
