Sponsored jointly by the Academic Staff Professional Development Program Committee and the University Staff Professional Development Committee, the professional development workshop “Teamwork, Communication, Creativity” will be Tuesday, March 19, 2019 from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. in the Phoenix Club, located in UW-Green Bay’s University Union. Following the sessions, Comedy City will present “Improv On The Job” from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. “Comradery Happy Hour” will then take place at 4:30 p.m. University staff and academic staff employees at all UW-Green Bay campuses are invited and encouraged to attend. Academic Staff Committee meets on Wednesday (March 13)

The 2018-19 Academic Staff Committee (ASC) meets biweekly on Wednesday afternoons at 1:30 p.m. in Cofrin Library 735. Committee meetings are open governance group meetings. The next meeting is Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 1:30 pm. View the meeting agenda. A portion of this meeting will be held in Closed Session to discuss a personnel matter as permitted by Wis. Complete your Academic Staff Spring 2019 Elections Ballot by Friday (March 15)

Please complete the Academic Staff Spring 2019 Elections Ballot, the Qualtrics link that was emailed on Friday, March 8, 2019, which will take a couple of minutes and is an extremely important part of the Academic Staff governance process. The comments included with the the candidates’ names were provided by the nominees themselves. Feel free to use these comments to help guide you towards your choice for the best candidate for each position. Feel free to contact the Office of the Secretary of the Faculty and Staff at SOFAS@uwgb.edu if you have any technical questions. Academic staff professional development funds for Green Bay Campus exhausted

The Academic Staff Professional Development Allocations Committee no longer has funds available to assist academic staff in professional development opportunities for the remainder of fiscal year 2018-2019. All funds have been expended. If you have questions, please contact committee members Jena Richter Landers (chair), Kay Voss, Nora Kanzenbach, Joanie Dovekas or Joe Schoenebeck.

Academic Staff member requested to serve on Strategic Budgeting Committee

The Academic Staff Committee would like to invite all members of the UW-Green Bay Academic Staff/Instructional Academic Staff to consider serving as the Academic Staff representative on the Strategic Budgeting Committee. The individual representing the Academic Staff on this committee is expected to provide regular updates at future Academic Staff Committee meetings. If you are interested in serving, please respond directly to Jamee Haslam at haslamj@uwgb.edu no later than noon on Tuesday, Mar. 12, 2019.

Please include a brief statement of what skills you can bring to the committee. Once the names of all those interested are gathered, the Academic Staff Committee will forward our recommendations to SOFAS. Sheryl Van Gruensven is the chair of the committee and will follow up with the selected individual regarding the schedule of future meetings. Save the date: Professional development opportunity on Thursday, Apr. 18

Academic Staff, University Staff and Faculty are invited to attend a presentation by Mark O’Connell, the executive director of Wisconsin Counties Association, in Madison. Mark will be speaking on “Wisconsin Demographics – How the Changes Affect the University Potential,” on Thursday, Apr. 18, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Phoenix Room B, Green Bay Campus. He will create a journey into world, national and state demographics, looking at the challenges we face as a society and what this means for the future of education and universities. He will demonstrate an exercise which could position you to be outstanding leaders in pursuit of choice. Watch your email for the registration link. Academic Staff representation needed for dean of the Cofrin School of Business search

The Academic Staff Committee would like to invite all members of the UW-Green Bay Academic Staff/Instructional Academic Staff to volunteer for a very important search committee. Provost Davis has charged all campus governance groups to provide names of representatives to serve on the search and screen committee for the dean of the Cofrin School of Business position.

If you are interested in serving, please respond directly to Jamee Haslam at haslamj@uwgb.edu  no later than noon on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019. Please include a brief statement of what you can bring to the search committee. Once the names of all those interested are gathered, the Academic Staff Committee will forward recommendations to Davis. Successful volunteers will be notified by the Provost’s office. Specific questions about the committee itself (e.g. committee makeup, timeline, responsibilities, etc.), can be directed to Davis.
