Winners announced for UW-Green Bay 2018 Academic Competition

Green Bay, Wis. — Students from 15 Northeast Wisconsin high schools participated in the 2018 University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Academic Competition. The 360 students competed in one of four subject areas with questions written by UW-Green Bay professors as well as other area educators. High school teachers served as subject team coaches to lead teams of students to compete in the areas of English/language arts, math, science and social studies. Members of the UW-Green Bay K-12 relations staff from the Division of Continuing Education and Community Engagement planned the event.

“We are pleased to work with area high schools to provide a venue for high school students to flex their academic muscles and engage with UW-Green Bay faculty,” Director of K-12 Relations, Meagan Strehlow. The results are as follows:

English Language Arts

1st- De Pere coached by Becky Hawley
2nd- Green Bay East coached by Suzi Carlson
3rd- Bay Port “B” coached by Amy Richards
4th- Ashwaubenon coached by Susan Hockers

Math

1st- Sturgeon Bay coached by Clif Wind
2nd- West De Pere “A” coached by Kristin Krahn and Jim Zillmer
3rd- Green Bay Southwest (tie) coached by Mary DeYoung and Tina Dumoulin
3rd- Green Bay Preble (tie) coached by Donald Schwedrsky

Science

1st- Green Bay Southwest “A” coached by John Sebranek
2nd- Bay Port coached by Anne Schmidt
3rd- Green Bay Preble “A” coached by David Haller
4th- Denmark coached by Nick Willow

Social Studies

1st- West De Pere “B” coached by
