UW-Green Bay hosts WWHEL, recognizes Betzig
The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, its Provost Julia Wallace, with administrative support from Judi Pietsch, played host to the 2013 Wisconsin Women in Higher Education Leadership (WWHEL) Conference, Oct., 23-24. Engaging speakers and panelists included UW-Green Bay’s Prof. (Business Administration) Lucy Arendt, Director of Adult Degree Christina Trombley, and adhoc instructor Jane Birr. Members of the Learning in Retirement organization offered support, as well.

Susan Albertine, Vice President, Office of Diversity, Equity and Student Success, Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U), delivered the keynote address, “Fielding Leadership for the Century Ahead.” Other topics included “Are you as Good Sports at Work? Women, Work and Humor,” led by Arendt, “Building your Leadership Play Book,” led by Trombley, “Coaching and Mentoring: Design the Field,” led by Kathleen O’Brien and Joyce Fey of Alverno College, and “Liberal Education and America’s Promise,” led by Albertine. Albertine also facilitated a panel discussion, “Take the Ball and Run: Pathways to the Top of the Pack.” Birr, an author and life coach, engaged and encouraged participants with a closing keynote, “It’s a Blitz! Going all out to Sack Negativity.”
