Senior faculty member Shariff carries mace… for last time?

Be sure to applaud the mace bearer at Saturday’s commencement. The honor of carrying the ceremonial object rests with the UW-Green Bay faculty member most senior in service. Today, that distinction rests with Prof. Ismail Shariff of Urban and Regional Studies, who joined the UW-Green Bay family 44 years ago, in 1967, as an assistant professor at the Manitowoc branch campus before moving to Green Bay two years later when the Shorewood site opened as a full university. Shariff has shared his intention to retire in the very near future, which would mean the mace duties would pass to the next professor on the seniority list. Be sure to congratulate Prof. Shariff on Saturday.
