Scholar Institute program to welcome inaugural class next week

The Phoenix Scholar Institute for African American Girls will begin its inaugural session Sunday (July 29), welcoming 13 area middle school students to campus. The weeklong residential program focuses on African American cultural principles and values while emphasizing academic success. Our own Institute for Learning Partnership is pairing with the Green Bay School District and community members to present the program, which is similar to the Phoenix Scholar Program for Boys held earlier this summer. The girls’ program will incorporate academics, self-esteem, nutrition, fitness and more, all in the context of the Kwanzaa holiday and its values. Full details.
