Small Business Development Center, training institute to present leadership series

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Small Business Development Center, in conjunction with Inspired Training Institute, Inc., will present “Leadership Excellence,” a six-month course designed to foster and enhance the successful leadership skills of managers and executives, beginning April 17.

The Leadership Excellence Series will include in-person half-day morning sessions on the third Wednesday of each month, for a total of 21 in-class hours. Between monthly sessions, participants will increase their knowledge and continue their discussions using UW-Green Bay’s online course management system. The online component will enhance learning with readings, case studies and participant discussions.

Course sessions are designed to educate leaders on relevant organizational development principles and practices; provide an opportunity for leaders to identify and create tools to improve their effectiveness; and explore decision-making, mental models and processes to achieve desired business results. Participants in the Leadership Excellence Series are “leaders of leaders” and high-potential employees who supervise front-line managers or supervisors in small to-mid-size organizations. Strong candidates have at least five years of leadership experience.

Each in-person session will run from 7:30-11 a.m. on the third Wednesday of the month at the UW-Green Bay Small Business Development Center, 2701 Larsen Road. A light breakfast will be served. Each session will focus on a different topic — organizational purpose, business process model, organizational structure, culture, managing performance, and leadership legacy, respectively. Attendance at all six class sessions is mandatory, and class size is limited to 15 participants.

Potential participants for the Leadership Excellence Series must complete an application and interview process, and must meet eligibility requirements for the course. Eligibility is based on business experience, role in organization and supervisory experience. Cost for the program is $1,495, with an introductory pilot program being offered at a discounted rate of $1,295. Interested parties are encouraged to contact SBDC Director Ryan Kauth at 920-496-2112 or via email at kauthr@uwgb.edu.
