2019 Clerks and Treasurers Institute Breaks Attendance Record
UW-Green Bay’s Clerks and Treasurers Institute, held at the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center, July 14-19, 2019, hosted a record-breaking 350 attendees. The successful training the Institute provides is reflected in the progressive increase in attendance over the past six years. Last year’s registrants numbered 325.
The Institute, run by the Continuing Education and Community Engagement – Government Affairs, is made up of an 80-course curriculum designed as a hands-on training venue with assessments of learning through case studies, written exercises and other creative ways to test knowledge. The coursework focuses on the development of technical skills, administrative knowledge, leadership, and financial management. The curriculum is designed to combine lecture, discussion and hand-on training. Case studies and exercises that test knowledge and understanding are used to assess the mastery of courses. Many people refer to the program as Clerks and Treasurers school and attendance to the Institute is a job hiring requirement for a large number of communities in Wisconsin.
UW-Green Bay’s Clerks and Treasurers Institute is the only place in the State of Wisconsin that trains clerks and treasurers for their jobs. The three year, week-long program is accredited by two international organizations and has won numerous awards for excellence. There are 44 Institutes in the world and UW-Green Bay’s Institute is the largest, offering more specialized training than any other organization in the United States.
