Freedom! Feel free to free up time for Philosopher’s Café
The last Philosopher’s Cafe of the academic year takes place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. this Thursday (May 12) at Kavarna on Broadway. Featured this time at the monthly meeting organized jointly by faculty from UW-Green Bay and St. Norbert College will be discussion leader David Duquette, a philosopher from SNC. We’re told he’ll steer us through the murky waters of “freedom.” Specifically, he hopes to draw us away from common one-sided conceptions so as to better capture and think through the benefits of a more holistic account of the term, touching upon “Freedom” as (a) freedom from…, (b) freedom to…, (c) rational freedom and (d) freedom in the social and political sense. ‘Free’ up your schedule so as to attend!

Prof. Christopher Martin of UW-Green Bay reports that the inaugural year for the joint Philosopher’s Café was a success. They plan to continue the series next year, so stay tuned for more Cafes once classes resume in fall.
