UWGB Offering Three-Part Course, ‘The Packers & The Draft.’ | WFRV
NE Wisconsinites finding unique ways to make the most of NFL draft.
BROWN COUNTY, Wis. (WFRV) – Local organizations are finding unique ways to take advantage of this potentially once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Northeast Wisconsin to host an NFL draft.
In the town of Scott, owner of Black Sheep Pub and Grill Tom Anderson says he sees a lot of potential when he looks out the window of the restaurant into the parking lot. He has plans to convert the parking lot into a 50-space camp site for people who need a place to stay during the NFL draft.
“I’m going to guess that it’s going to be really huge when you’re tripling your population in one week,” said Anderson. “I’m going to guess even out this far we’re going to be busy.”
There’s a three-night minimum stay for those interested in renting out the spaces. They will also offer a free shuttle to and from the NFL draft Thursday through Saturday.

In most cases, municipalities will require businesses to apply for and obtain a special use permit to operate a campground like this.
Down the road from Black Sheep Pub and Grill, University of Wisconsin-Green Bay officials have found a very different way to make the most of Titletown’s chance to host the NFL draft.
In April leading up to the draft, they will offer a three-part course called ‘The Packers & The Draft.’ It discusses the history of the NFL draft, the Packers’ past picks, and other little-known facts and stories about the draft.
Packers Hall of Fame curator Brent Hensel teaches the class. It costs $49 and can be taken live via Zoom or UWGB officials can send you a recorded link of the class after each session.
“I would say this is a pivotal time in Green Bay, a pivotal time for Packers fans,” said UWGB Program Specialist for Continuing Education Heidi Leiterman. “Get that knowledge ahead of time so you’re prepared, know the history, and how the draft works.”

UW-Green Bay will not have classes from April 24 through April 27 to give their students a chance to fully experience the NFL draft.
“We’re always looking for ways to connect what’s happening here with our educational goals,” Leiterman said. “One of the goals is to educate anybody who wants to learn and that of course includes Packers fans and football fans.”
