In the media: Word of Outreach aviation course takes off with local news story
A UW-Green Bay Education Outreach class that lets students explore aviation as a hobby or career drew some local media attention Thursday (Jan. 17), with WBAY’s Kristyn Allen profiling the course ahead of its kickoff in March. We told you recently about the Aviation and Aerodynamics for Private and Sport Pilots offering, a partnership with CAVU Flight Center and Executive Air at Austin Straubel International Airport. Allen on Thursday interviewed its instructor, Sherwood (Woody) Williams, along with Carmen Leuthner, director of Education Outreach, and UW-Green Bay student — and aspiring pilot — Ben Feuerbach. The course is well-timed, experts say, as retirements and other factors are likely to lead to a shortage of pilots in the relatively near future. Whether for fun or as a career, the Education Outreach course is designed to be a first step in helping students achieve their aviation goals.
