Local education leaders back DREAM Act

UW-Green Bay Chancellor Thomas Harden was joined by several other educational leaders in northeastern Wisconsin in urging Congress to pass the DREAM Act. Harden was joined by H. Jeffrey Rafn, NWTC president; Thomas Kunkel, St. Norbert College president; and Greg Maass, Green Bay Area Public Schools superintendent. The group sent a letter to several representatives saying the bill would “help break the cycle of generational poverty found in many immigrant families and support an increased educated work force.” The bill would allow unauthorized aliens to become conditional legal permanent residents if they have met certain conditions.
