Gold and silvers for Prof. Damkoehler

The local Addy Award program also yielded honors for UW-Green Bay faculty members. In a previous issue of the LOG, we noted the award for alumna and instructor Addie Sorbo. Another graduate turned faculty member, Prof. Toni Damkoehler, also had a big night. Damkoehler earned a Gold Addy and two Silver Addy awards in the professional designers division, scoring honors for her work on promotional posters for the UW-Green Bay Theatre program. Winning gold was her original poster illustration for the Theatre/Music production of “Gone Missing,” which also earned a silver in the category of advertising for the arts. Another silver went to Damkoehler’s “bobraucchenbergamerica” poster. The recognition is nothing new. Damkoehler’s designs have won 18 Fox Valley Addy awards on behalf of Theatre since she began entering them in 1999. The biggest winner was “The Sleeper” poster that went on to earn an International Gold Graphis Design Award in 2010. The high-end posters are described as being effective tools for box-office sales and even student recruitment, as they visually advertise UW-Green Bay’s commitment to its high-caliber, award-winning college theatre program.
