Blaney earns Abu Dhabi trip for world water/energy summit
Dallas Blaney, assistant professor of Public and Environmental Affairs, received news recently that he is the winner of a blog-post essay contest on “The Water-Energy Nexus.” As such, he is the recipient of a trip to Abu Dhabi and an invitation to attend Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week January 13-17 as a guest journalist and scholar. Blaney will have the opportunity to attend and cover the World Future Energy Summit, the International Water Summit, the Abu Dhabi International Renewable Energy Conference and the Zayed Future Energy Prize. The contest was launched by Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company. Blaney will be able to tour “Masdar City” and Masdar’s new 100-megawatt concentrated solar power project. Officials told Blaney his post, “Demystifying the Water-Energy Nexus,” demonstrated a “thoughtful, well-researched approach to the subject, and of the 71 entries submitted, our judges found that it stood out above the rest.” Follow this web link to the contest and his winning essay.
