Close-ups: Carnival theme creates controlled chaos at Cofrin Bash
Veering from its typical serene environment, the award-winning Cofrin Library went ‘carnival’ Thursday (Sept. 11) for its fall 2014 Bash in the Stacks. About 650 participants including students, faculty and staff, had a blast with Nerf tag, games, prizes, and a carnival-themed obstacle course. Almost 70 balloon animals were made by Kidz Town in the course of four hours and more than 400 buttons were made at the craft table. Tunes by DJ Audio Axentz were a hit for those who allowed themselves to be kids again, for an evening.
One especially popular game was “Silent Library” — one team member performs a challenge, while teammates have to remain completely silent. Successful challenges received points for prizes. Among the challenges: Water for Elephants (knocking down bottles with pantyhose on the head), Give a Little Whistle (eat four saltines and whistle the tune of “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”), and William Tell (shooting a shielded face of a teammate with a Nerf gun.)
Food and beverages were provided by the Chancellor’s Office. Bash in the Stacks is sponsored by the Cofrin Library, Office of Student Life, and FOCUS. You an find more photos on the Cofrin Library facebook page.
