Cofrin Library’s annual Bash in the Stacks event is set for Thursday, Sept. 13 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. There will be food, games, Nerf tag, henna and balloon artists, a mini quiz bowl and crafts to bring in the fall semester! This event is sponsored by the Cofrin Library, Student Life, FOCUS and the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Student Affairs.
The Cofrin Library is looking for magazines that can be used for button making and crafts at its annual Bash in the Stacks party. If you have magazines that you would be willing to donate, please bring them to the third floor public services desk at the Cofrin Library by September 7, 2018. In high demand: People, US Weekly, other celebrity magazines, National Geographic and other magazines with pictures (nature, food, pets are popular).
The UW-Green Bay Cofrin Library will be hosting Bash in the Stacks on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017 from 7 to 10 p.m. This year’s FANtastic Bash has a theme all about fandoms — Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Star Wars, Game of Thrones and more. There will be crafts, games, food, a DJ and Nerf tag in the sixth-floor stacks. Follow the library on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to keep up with Bash news.
Why is UW-Green Bay the top library in the UW System? In part, because the library staff members work hard at education and engagement. And then there is Bash in the Stacks — which provides food, fun and friendly competition for more than 500 students annually. Popular events of the 2016 ‘bash’ were nerf tag, chair volleyball, button-making, and the Bash Triathalon. Check out the photos from Bash in the Stacks- International Games.

Putting to rest the stale notion that libraries are always quiet and serious, and that the primary job of any librarian is to say “Shhhhhhhh.”… the award-winning Cofrin Library hosted more than 600 students Thursday evening (Sept. 10) for the annual, informal and engaging open house, Bash in the Stacks.
Putting to rest the stale notion that modern libraries are always quiet and serious — the award-winning Cofrin Library hosted more than 600 students Thursday evening (Sept. 10) for its annual, informal open house, Bash in the Stacks. The library was at full staff, with help from Student Ambassadors and a few other staff members to oversee the fun, food and games.
Be aware that the Cofrin Library will host, from 8 to 11 p.m. tonight (Thursday, Sept. 10), the annual Bash in the Stacks event featuring food, games, crafts, prizes, music, Nerf Tag, mini golf, and the taping of a mash-up video montage for students and the young of heart. It’s fun, helps orient newcomers to where things are, and playfully bashes the notion that libraries are places where you’re told, “Shhhhhhhhh. Quiet, please.” We’ll have links to fun photos, and maybe the video, in a future issue.
Veering from its typical serene environment, the award-winning Cofrin Library went ‘carnival’ Thursday (Sept. 11) for its fall 2014 Bash in the Stacks. About 650 participants including students, faculty and staff, had a blast with Nerf tag, games, prizes, and a carnival-themed obstacle course. Almost 70 balloon animals were made by Kidz Town in the course of four hours and more than 400 buttons were made at the craft table. Tunes by DJ Audio Axentz were a hit for those who allowed themselves to be kids again, for an evening.
One especially popular game was “Silent Library” — one team member performs a challenge, while teammates have to remain completely silent. Successful challenges received points for prizes. Among the challenges: Water for Elephants (knocking down bottles with pantyhose on the head), Give a Little Whistle (eat four saltines and whistle the tune of “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”), and William Tell (shooting a shielded face of a teammate with a Nerf gun.)
Food and beverages were provided by the Chancellor’s Office. Bash in the Stacks is sponsored by the Cofrin Library, Office of Student Life, and FOCUS. You an find more photos on the Cofrin Library facebook page.
