Reminder: Digital Learning Environment transition begins

In your inboxes last week…”UW-System released the announcement that Canvas will succeed D2L as the digital “learning management system” (LMS). This transition will take place in stages over the coming semesters and culminate in the summer of 2020 when access to D2L will end. Canvas won the bid in a rigorous RFP process because instructors and students found that it offered greater functionality and a better user experience at the same time. In fact, there was side-by-side user testing between Canvas and D2L as part of the selection process. Canvas out-paced D2L in terms of usability by students and instructors across the UW-System, despite the fact that users had far more experience with D2L. While this change comes at a time of uncertainty, it is also a chance to take advantage of some features that many instructors will find exciting, such as peer review and easier assignment feedback. The Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning is coordinating this project with the help of Information Services.” More to come.
