GREEN BAY – The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Office of Career Services has named Associated Bank as its 2015 Recruitment Partner of the Year, continuing a tradition of community partnership that emphasizes hands-on learning. Associated Bank associates were on hand to receive the award during UWGB’s Etiquette Luncheon on February 29.
Over the past 10 years, Associated Bank has been engaged with the campus and students in numerous ways. The partnership between UW-Green Bay and Associated has continued to grow with the financial institution’s consistent presence at job fairs, on-campus interviews, class presentations, mock interviews and specialty programs like “Internship Mania.” This organization has been a five-year sponsor of Business Week and a three-year sponsor of Phoenix Recruitment Online (PRO). There have been at least 30 students who have interned with the company since 2002.
“Community partnerships are key to our work in Career Services,” says Career Services Director Linda Peacock-Landrum. “In working with these organizations, we collectively provide learning experiences for students via numerous formats. Our students play vital roles as interns, and our graduates become solid, contributing employees who offer a direct benefit to these organizations.”
Associated has had a strong affiliation with more than 100 alumni throughout the years. Many of those alumni have started their career in banking at Associated and are still in the banking profession today. The tradition will continue in 2016 with graduates Jose Villa, Phillip Anschutz and Emily Blaha joining Associated. UWGB alumni Ryan Streicher and Joe Miller joined the Associated Bank team last year.
“Our multifaceted relationship with UWGB has benefitted both our organizations,” said Judy Docter, Associated executive vice president and chief human resources officer. “More importantly, it has helped a significant number of students identify career directions and springboard into professional opportunities in the financial services industry. It’s fair to say that we’re an even stronger company thanks to working with the University to identify students who will contribute to our future as employees.”
Headquartered in Green Bay, Associated Bank has a legacy of service that spans over 150 years. It has over 200 banking offices serving more than 100 communities in Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota. The company offers traditional banking services along with a variety of other services and financial products.
UW-Green Bay Career Services chooses an organization or community member to receive the annual award based on their exceptional commitment to Career Services’ mission of creating learning opportunities for UW-Green Bay students in their fields of study, whether through internships or other hands-on experiences. The award was established in 2006 and first awarded in 2007, with past recipients including Integrys, Schenck Business Solutions, the Arthritis Foundation of Northeast Wisconsin, Glen Tilot with Brown County Human Services, Schreiber Foods, Schneider, ACUITY and Humana.
