Close-ups: An award-winning float for UWGB and a ‘Toyful’ and Joyful Christmas to all
Add another to UW-Green Bay’s long list of awards. At least for one year, UW-Green Bay holds the 2014 Green Bay Holiday Parade’s Jean Nicolet Award for the float that portrays this year’s theme — Toyland Christmas — to the greatest degree in design and presentation. Not bad for a small group of individuals who worked mostly through lunch hours on a small budget to be in front of up to 20,000 people on parade day.
This year the committee decided on three “Jack-in-the-Boxes” highlighting three of UWGB’s most visible partners — alumni, athletics and the Weidner Center. UW-Green Bay’s message to the community was “Have a Toyful Christmas and a Joyful New Year.” The committee also collected (and used for the float) hundreds of employee-donated toys for the local Toys for Tots campaign.
Thanks to all who contributed time, treasure and talent.
