Go, SLO! Press-Gazette story features student gardens, including ours
We’ve told you here recently about some of the fresh and delicious offerings from UW-Green Bay’s SLO Food Alliance, which in recent weeks has been selling veggies during the Wednesday lunch hour (tomorrow, too!). SLO Food got some ink in Tuesday’s (July 16) Green Bay Press-Gazette, with reporter Patti Zarling taking a look at student-managed gardens in our area. She spoke with Dean of Enrollment Services and SLO adviser Mike Stearney, who talked about the myriad benefits of having a garden. “I think the students learn you have to have a sustained interest,” Stearney said. “You can’t garden sporadically, you just can’t plant and go away. I think that can be something new for students and something they enjoy.” Full story.
