They’re billing it as the “2nd Annual UWGB Convocation Open” to be held the day after convocation on the afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 29, at our very own Shorewood Golf Course, and it sounds like fun. The format for this social outing will be a three- or four-person scramble, so golfers of all abilities are encouraged to participate and meet others from UW-Green Bay in a less formal setting. The event is open to faculty, staff and retirees, with the teams being selected by the Planning Committee that consists of Kelly Franz, John Katers and Joe Schoenebeck. Tee times start at 1 p.m., so if you can afford to take vacation for the afternoon and also the very reasonable $10 greens fee ($15 if you take a cart), they’d love to hear from you. Please contact Joe Schoenebeck by noon Aug. 23, the preceding Friday, to reserve your spot, as this event will be limited to the first 40 participants. Non-golfers? Any and all are welcome to stop by Shorewood for refreshments and casual conversation later that afternoon. Once again, Chancellor Harden will be on hand to hit the ceremonial first ball to open the day’s activities.
