Theatre on the Bay Announces Auditions for Mamma Mia!
Green Bay, Wis. — Theatre on the Bay will hold auditions for Mamma Mia! on Saturday and Sunday, May 4 and 5, 2019 at the Herbert L. Williams Theatre, located at UW-Green Bay, Marinette Campus.
Sophie Sheridan is getting married! But who’s walking her down the aisle? Sophie has no idea who her real father is, and her mother is no help: according to Donna Sheridan’s diary, three different men could be Sophie’s dad. Sophie secretly invites all three to the wedding, hoping to answer her question by bringing them all together at her home on the sunny Greek island of Kalokairi. ABBA’s disco-pop songbook propels this tale of love, laughter and friendship. Mamma Mia! promises to be a trip down the aisle you’ll never forget!
Please visit the Theatre on the Bay web page for the complete audition notice, which includes a synopsis and a list of available roles and instructions for getting an audition slot. The audition notice is also available on the Theatre on the Bay Facebook group page, and the Facebook page “Theatre on the Bay at UW-Green Bay, Marinette Campus.”
All auditionees will be given a time on either May 4 or 5 to present a monologue and song, and must attend a short choreography audition on May 5. Auditionees should prepare a one- to two-minute comic monologue, as well as a pop or rock tune from the 1960s, 1970s or 1980s. No show tunes or ABBA songs will be heard for these auditions. Auditionees must use an audio file (a karaoke track, for example) for the music audition. A microphone and audio system will be available. Audio should be edited to the appropriate length for the audition, or auditionees must be able to quickly and clearly indicate the section of the track they wish to use. No audition pianist will be available, and no a capella auditions will be seen.
Mamma Mia! will be performed on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from July 19 through July 28. The cast will also perform at Menominee’s Family Recreation Day on June 1 and participate in the Marinette Logging and Heritage Festival Parade, July 14.
Mamma Mia! will kick off Theatre on the Bay’s Season 53, which will also feature the comedies Reckless and The Importance of Being Earnest as part of a Season of Laughter. Children’s Theatre will produce Frozen Jr. and Anne of Green Gables, as well as their third Christmas concert in December. Tickets will be on sale soon for all of these shows at the Marinette Campus web page.
