‘Danceworks’ to take center stage at UWGB

GREEN BAY – The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay Theatre and Dance program will present Danceworks, a concert of faculty and student choreography, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 9 and 3 p.m. Sunday, April 10 at the University Theatre in Theatre Hall on campus, 2420 Nicolet Drive.

The mainstage production will celebrate dance with a diverse medley of styles, showcasing student-choreographed pieces in addition to those choreographed by UW-Green Bay faculty member and Danceworks Artistic Director Denise Carlson-Gardner. Lighting design is provided by faculty member David Cook and select students.

“The styles range from contemporary to classical jazz, jazz funk to classical and rhythm tap,” Carlson-Gardner said. “It’s a really broad spectrum, which represents styles that the students are learning in our department.”

Tickets for Danceworks are $8 in advance and $10 at the door for adults; $5 in advance and $7 at the door for senior citizens, individuals under age 18, and UW-Green Bay students. Order online at www.uwgb.edu/tickets or by calling (920) 465-2400 or (800) 328-tkts.
