UW-Green Bay Music, German programs to join forces for ‘lyrics and song’ concert
Students from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay’s Music and German departments will come together for a special performance Monday, March 10, reviving the popular “Lyrik und Lieder” (lyrics and songs) concert at UW-Green Bay. The no-cost event begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Jean Weidner Theatre at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts on campus, 2420 Nicolet Drive.
“Lyrik und Lieder” is the result of UW-Green Bay Music’s vocal and piano studios pairing with the German language program to study German art and song, and ultimately to present their discoveries. Directed by Music lecturer Abigail Mace, the concert event will include poetry, music, and insights into both poets and composers. A free reception will follow.
The “Lyrik und Lieder” concert had experienced a several-year hiatus before being resurrected due to the combined efforts of Mace, Assistant Prof. Courtney Sherman and Prof. Sarah Meredith Livingston, Music; as well as Prof. David Coury, Humanistic Studies (German). It is an exemplar of UW-Green Bay’s 360° of Learning brand, which encourages students, faculty and staff to consider topics and issues from a variety of different perspectives.
“Lyrik und Lieder” will feature student performances from William Burton, Liz Brandt, Lindsay Cummings, Paul Dugan, Ryan Dummer, Taylor Dynes, Leah Lamalfa, Andrew Lange, James Letellier, Lane Ludkte, Brian Roberts, Amber Schilling, Nick Schommer, Tory Schuurmans, Nathan Skifton, Kyle Sweeney, Adam Timmerman, Kevin Wellens and Rachel White.
