UW-Green Bay’s Cofrin School of Business presents Business Week 2013

UW-Green Bay’s Austin E. Cofrin School of Business, in partnership with Career Services, will present a host of activities as part of Business Week 2013, to be held Feb. 25-March 7 on the campus at 2420 Nicolet Drive.

Now in its third year, Business Week is a valuable opportunity for local businesspeople and students in UW-Green Bay’s Austin E. Cofrin School of Business. Students are able to add to their classroom learning by participating in a variety of events, each of which includes business leaders from the local community.

“We are very pleased to be able to continue this learning and networking opportunity for our students,” said Larry McGregor, lecturer of Management for the Cofrin School of Business. “It truly is an ideal situation. Our students get experience, advice and input from our business community, and receive help with resumes and the chance to talk one-on-one with potential employers. Our business partners get to meet and develop relationships with our students, faculty and staff, while providing possible hiring opportunities after students graduate.”

The theme for Business Week 2013 is “Creativity, Innovation and Vision,” a nod to the 2013 campus Common Theme of the same name. The Common Theme is a yearlong program to engage the UW-Green Bay campus and surrounding community in the ideals of a liberal arts education and the University’s interdisciplinary mission. It is designed to encourage students, faculty, staff and community members to focus on a general theme from multiple perspectives, and to have a shared experience with open discussion and critical thinking.

Business Week events include presentations, mock interviews, a job and internship fair and other career-exploration activities, all of which provide networking opportunities for local business leaders and students. An invitation-only keynote address will serve as the week’s culminating event, featuring Betsy Mitchell, retired Vice President of Organizational Development with the Green Bay Packers. Mitchell worked for the Packers for nearly two decades, and was credited with pioneering work that served as a model for the NFL Player Assistance Programs. She has earned numerous career accolades and is widely regarded for her unique style of leadership development.
