About 700 new freshmen and their families were welcomed by more than 100 members of UW-Green Bay faculty, staff, student groups, administrators, retirees and athletes to UW-Green Bay’s Freshman Move-in Day, August 30. According to a number of the parents, many who had been through this before with older siblings, UW-Green Bay’s Freshman Move-in is among the friendliest and most efficient imaginable. “We experienced this with my son a few years ago,” remarked one ‘GB’ dad, “and I told my daughter, ‘this is where you are going to go, too’ and here she is!” In most cases, within minutes of pulling up in front of their new home-away-from-home, helpers converged to carry couches, microwaves, computers, TVs, lamps, and more, to the new students’ room while parents stood in awe and sincere appreciation.
