GB Welcome pep rally in the quad

Photos: Phoenix first day? Heavy lifters, 35 gallons of paint and nearly 800 new students

It seems to be harder on the parents than the first-year students, but the Residence Life crew, along with faculty, staff, alumni and student volunteers (about 150 of them), made UW-Green Bay’s Move-in Day a little lighter. Later, students painted the Phoenix and about 780 students got together for the Welcome Rally in Phoenix Park.

Around Labor Day Weekend? Please help with Campus Move-in

Will you and your family members be around Labor Day Weekend? Could you spare a few hours? Residence Life could sure use your help welcoming our freshmen class to UW-Green Bay. First-year students will move in to their assigned housing on Sunday, Sept. 1, from 8 a.m. – Noon. Traditionally, faculty, staff, and now student leaders have been on site to assist our new students as they move to campus and take one of their first steps towards completing their education. This can be a stressful time for both the student and family/friends who may be assisting them. In the past, our Phoenix families have been very appreciative and relieved to arrive on campus to find conveniently located information tables, staff directing traffic and others awaiting to help tote boxes and bags into the buildings. The Office of Residence Life is asking that you be one of the volunteers who will both welcome and assist our students with their physical move into student housing. This small gift of your time and energy could have a significant impact on our students’ engagement and retention. If interested, please complete this short Qualtrics form by Friday, May 24.

Welcome newcomers, welcome all! It’s a great week to be a Phoenix. More than 700 new students were welcomed by more than 100 volunteers on the Green Bay Campus for Move-In Day over the Labor Day Weekend. The emotional day (especially for parents) was made a bit brighter by the volunteers.

It took more than 100 volunteers along with the Residence Life personnel, maintenance, and many others, to move in nearly 800 new UW-Green Bay freshmen today (August 31, 2017). Director of Residence Life Gail Sims-Aubert said the move-in went flawlessly with a number of parents personally stopping by to express their gratitude. As packed cars pulled to the curb, volunteers grabbed their items and hustled them to their room, giving families more time for organizing and way-finding.
