Weidner Center announces 2016-17 season

Executive Director of the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts, Kate Green, announced the 2016-17 performing arts season today, June 15, in front of an enthusiastic crowd on the Weidner Center stage. The new season begins with An Evening with Garrison Keillor, and follows with the four-time Tony Award-winning Pippin, A Night with Lily Tomlin, a full slate of holiday shows, the hilarious hit musical, Disenchanted, the return of Daniel O’Donnell, incredible new acts such as Black Violin, and so much more. See more at weidnercenter.com. Patrons of the Weidner Center can become a “subscriber” and save up to 10% by selecting three or more shows in advance of individual ticket sales (11 a.m., July 29).

New season follows record year

Kate Green took few minutes during the Weidner Center season preview to reflect on a fantastic 2015-16 season. The Weidner Center hosted 286 events, with 98,706 patrons — marking the fifth consecutive year of attendance growth and a 64% increase in attendance during that time period. The Weidner Center also hosted 15,580 PreK-12 students (an attendance bump of 8% from the year previous) from 67 cities and 23 counties, in its daytime education series. See photos here.
