Harden pays tribute to 1967 history, and founding chancellor

In his remarks Saturday, UW-Green Bay Chancellor Thomas Harden praised Edward Weidner’s legacy and said he was honored to have his first major event as chancellor be the carillon dedication. The new chancellor quoted a passage from the campus history book From the Beginning, which described the first groundbreaking in November 1967, when Weidner looked out across the open fields and said he could see the buildings rising. Commented Harden: “Edward Weidner, a man of vision and imagination, knew what a campus was supposed to look like. Happily, for us, he also knew what a campus was supposed to sound like.” Harden thanked family, friends and donors for their gift of the carillon to campus.
