Odds and ends from dedication day

James Weidner spoke at Saturday’s ceremony with words and wardrobe recalling his grandfather’s memory — the son of Ellen and the late Gary Weidner wore colorful neckwear and a t-shirt bearing Ed’s likeness… The bell towers at Clemson and, especially, Michigan State, were mentioned as Weidner favorites and, as such, inspiration for the UW-Green Bay installation… The UW-Green Bay “Alma Mater” was the first song played… A misprint in Monday morning’s print edition of the Press-Gazette resulted in about a dozen curiosity-seekers showing up at 4 p.m. Monday for the dedication “concert”; though it wasn’t their error, University officials obliged with an impromptu series of selections played from the tower.
