Philosophers (final) Café — ‘Can Creativity be Taught?’
The Philosophers Café closes its 2015-16 series from 7 to 8:30 p.m. this Wednesday, May 11, at the second floor of Titletown Brewing Company (200 Dousman) with an exploratory discussion of whether “Creativity can be Taught.” UWGB Prof. Christine Style (Art) leads the discussion and asks whether museums and art centers are the new churches… “Churches are about conversion to an ideal (through books, prayers, song, architecture, propaganda, etc). Artists offer a new way of looking at the world. Do artists want to convert their viewers? Can the artist teach creativity the same way churches teach ideologies? How has technology, of particular us in the art world, changed the religion of art?” Bring a creative friend to this Wednesday’s Philosophers Café for a discussion of these issues.
