Finally… also on Friday… UWGB takes part in ‘Garden Blitz’
The Green Bay Garden Blitz, an initiative involving various partners and more than 100 community volunteers in encouraging the benefits of urban agriculture and gardening education, gets under way Friday, with UWGB serving as a primary host on Day 1. Through installing raised bed gardens and providing continuous mentoring and support, the Blitz inspires local gardeners — whether experienced or first-timers — to grow their own produce, support sustainability, and discover a new hobby. The opening salvo of the blitz is “May Day Madness” from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday (May 1) at the hoop house gardens outside the Laboratory Sciences Building right here on campus. Volunteers will be installing six new garden boxes to be used for a variety of campus projects. The event will also feature resource tables about the Blitz, gardening, and make-your-own recipe cards, as well as pudding and gummy-worm “dirt cup” treats and coloring activities. Stop by if you’re interested.
