In the news: ‘Futuremakers’ program helps foster program kids prepare

WBAY, Channel 2 on Wednesday (July 18) ran a nice story about a summer program with UW-Green Bay ties. Known as Fostering Futuremakers, this five-day camp is designed for high school juniors and seniors in the foster care system. They stay in the residence halls here at UW-Green Bay, tour campuses (here and at St. Norbert College), and take a variety of classes at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College. The idea, organizers say, is to reach out to foster kids, providing opportunities and information about postsecondary education. Many develop career goals along the way. Full story.
