Faculty note: Shelton has publication in ‘American Educator’
UW-Green Bay Assistant Prof. Jon Shelton (Democracy and Justice Studies) published an article called “Teacher Unionism in America: Lessons from the Past for Defending and Deepening Democracy” in the most recent issue of the American Educator, the national publication for the American Federation of Teachers. Drawing on Shelton’s book Teacher Strike! and additional research, the piece argues that teacher unions must make deeper connections with local communities. The AFT has 1.7 million members, and the American Educator goes to every K-12 teacher in the AFT.
