Immediate need to fill campus cupboards
A message from Interim Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Campus Climate Gail Sims-Aubert regarding the cancellation of the ‘Feed the Phoenix’ drive in favor of immediate help to students:
“The events of this week have provided us all with many stressors and additional work. I recognize that it’s been a heavy load for all, but want to ask you for one more favor. Though our students will not be meeting in person for their courses, many of them will continue to access resources on all four campuses. Amongst this group, there is great need for food and basic personal items (laundry detergent, soap, etc.). Most often these students turn to our campuses’ cupboards and pantries to supplement what they can afford to supply for themselves. As you can imagine, this resource has been greatly depleted in recent days. Current cupboard hours:
Green Bay Campus, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. (M-F)
Manitowoc Campus, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. (M-F)
Marinette Campus, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (M-F)
Sheboygan Student Services, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (M-F)
If you were planning to contribute to your campus cupboard or local pantry during the Feed the Phoenix drive, please consider giving now and taking your donation directly to the Campus Cupboard (Rose Hall #140). We have decided to suspend the drive in favor of this urgent request. For those of you who may be collecting items in your respective offices/departments, please take what you’ve collected thus far to the cupboards in lieu of waiting until the end date of the promotion. I believe that we can all agree that the provision of essentials to those in need is more important than being awarded the traveling trophy.
Again, thank you for all you’re currently doing and for taking the time to consider a quick donation to what is such a wonderful resource on our four campuses. Please feel free to reach out if you have questions or concerns.”
