Politicizing the Packers: Kraft offers take on politicians playing off the home team
With little more than a month left until the November election, candidates stumping in the swing state of Wisconsin are looking to connect to voters in a variety of ways — including via the gridiron. The Green Bay Press-Gazette’s Maria Amante wrote a story for Sunday’s (Sept. 30) newspaper looking at the politics of the Packers — or, more accurately, the politicians who voice support for the home team to gain favor with area voters. Amante spoke with Prof. Emeritus Michael Kraft about the phenomenon. “It helps them appear like real people,” Kraft said. “Very few people would be persuaded by (picking a team).” Full story.
