In Warren Gerds, critic-at-large, reviews and previews this week, is Silent Sky, a UW-Green Bay Theatre and Dance play, explores a woman’s place in society during a time of immense scientific discoveries, when women’s ideas were dismissed until men claimed credit for them. Leavitt and her female peers were dedicated to social and scientific progress. The cast: Henrietta Leavitt is played by Guinevere Casper, junior, West Bend; Margaret Leavitt is played by Bianca Rayne, freshman, New Holstein; Peter Shaw is played by Matt Beecher, junior, Milwaukee; Annie Cannon is played by Emily Ahrens, senior, Roscoe, Ill.; and Williamina Fleming is played by Laker Thrasher, sophomore, Montello. Directing is John Mariano of the faculty. The play runs April 25-28 in University Theatre, Theatre Hall, on campus. Ticket, here.
