Gerds review: GBSO’s ‘Olde World’ show
Local 5 Critic-at-Large Warren Gerds praised Saturday’s (March 8) Green Bay Symphony Orchestra concert in a weekend column, noting the special touches and featured artist that made the show enjoyable. The event at the Weidner Center focused on “Great Music from the Olde World,” and included Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons,” Bach’s “Suite No. 3 for Orchestra in D major, BWV 1068” and Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber’s “Battalia.” The performance of the three works was “extremely fine,” Gerds says. His column also praises the work of guest violinist Samantha George of the Lawrence University faculty, noting her musical acumen as well as stage presence. Read the review.
