John Salerno touring with Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra

Music Prof. John Salerno ’76 is practicing his art on a high level these days in mostly weekend gigs with the touring Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra. Salerno has joined the classic big-band group on several of its Midwest tours this fall, including stops in October at the Fox Cities PAC, this month in Hartford, Wis., and this coming weekend in Milwaukee. Head of the jazz studies program at UW-Green Bay, Salerno plays saxophone, clarinet and flute when he sits in with the orchestra. Steve Johnson, Class of 2003, is a current college instructor and former Salerno student who also plays with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra.
