Community’s S-o-S flute choir now hosted by UW-Green Bay

We told you in our last issue about the brass and flute recital at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday (April 20) in Fort Howard Hall, featuring The Phoenix Brass under the direction of UW-Green Bay Prof. Adam Gaines; the Flute Ensemble under the direction of lecturer Nancy Collins; and the Saxophone Quartet led by Prof. John Salerno. Also performing will be the Sounds of Silver flute choir, made up of adult flutists from the greater Green Bay area. The ensemble, now hosted by UW-Green Bay’s Music program, includes several music teachers from area schools and some who maintain private studios. The Flute Choir was formed in 2003 and hosted by  St. Norbert College until spring 2010 and the retirement of Fred and Heather Schmidt at St. Norbert College. SoS has performed at the Wisconsin School Music Association annual convention and has performed at SNC once or twice annually since 2003.  This ensemble provides an outlet for community flutists to play flute ensemble music in an informal setting and to share conversations.
