Kraft offers context for story on political robocalls

The election season is over, and with it — temporarily, at least — the annoying string of political robocalls that particularly plagued swing states like Wisconsin leading up to Nov. 6. The Press-Gazette on Saturday (Dec. 1) ran a story about efforts to get such political calls added to the state’s no-call list, and Prof. Emeritus Mike Kraft helped offer context on the issue. Eliminating robocalls likely wouldn’t benefit either party in particular, Kraft told reporter Maria Amante, and a limiting factor could be accusations of curbing free speech. The calls are an inexpensive, efficient way to reach large numbers of people — and while they may not change minds, they might mobilize supports to go vote, Kraft said. Full story.
