In the news: Hutchison voices support for Hmong history bill

UW-Green Bay Prof. Ray Hutchison was in the news Monday (Nov. 25), speaking with WBAY, Channel 2 reporter Bao Vang about a legislative proposal that would require Wisconsin schools to teach about the history and contributions of the Hmong people. Hutchison, director of the UW-Green Bay Hmong Studies Center, is a supporter of the bill. “The time to do this is long past,” said Hutchison, Urban and Regional Studies. “Most people are aware of it, but you really get a sense when you visit in larger cities, the United States is more diverse now than we’ve ever been in our history and it becomes all the more important we know who these people are.” Full story.
