Peacock-Landrum talks social media, employment with Fox 11
Career Services Director Linda Peacock-Landrum helped offer context Tuesday (April 23) for a WLUK, Fox 11 story on a new legislative proposal that would make it illegal for employers to ask for access to employees’ or applicants’ personal social media accounts. No UW-Green Bay students have reported that they’ve been asked to do so, Peacock-Landrum said, but her office has advised students not to disclose that information or provide passwords if requested. That said, she offered a good reminder for students when it comes to the Internet. “If you are not comfortable with something being put on a billboard on the side of the road,” Peacock-Landrum said, “then why would you put it on a public source, on the Internet?’ To hear more from her, and the lawmaker proposing the change, click here.
