Prof. Emeritus Salisbury talks Christian martyrs with CNN

Came across this on the interwebs: Joyce Salisbury, professor emerita of History and Humanistic Studies at UW-Green Bay, was interviewed for a CNN story and lengthy CNN.com piece on Christian martyrdom. Salisbury has written extensively of the early martyr Perpetua, a young mother who kept a diary leading up to her death by lion attack in the Roman arena. While the Perpetua story was well documented, most historians now believe instances of persecution by the Roman Empire were in fact relatively rare. Salisbury is quoted at the top of the CNN.com story. The Easter weekend piece is archived here.
