UW-Green Bay honored service members past and present Thursday (Nov. 10) with its annual Chancellor’s Veteran Reception. Held the day before Veterans Day, this year’s event featured broadcast personality John Maino, a well-known supporter of veterans and the author of the books Frontlines: Personal Accounts of Wisconsin Veterans and The Pacific. Long involved in sports and sports broadcasting, Maino has heard plenty of talk about teamwork through the years, he told the crowd of veterans and supporters — but nothing compares to the camaraderie among members of the military. “It’s palpable,” Maino said. “You can feel how they have each other’s back.” See story and photo gallery.
