Reminder: Food Day, Will Allen address Wednesday on campus

Just a friendly reminder that renowned author and urban farmer Will Allen will highlight UW-Green Bay’s National Food Day events from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 24) in the Union’s Phoenix Room. The University is teaming up with The Readers Loft bookstore to bring in Allen, the founder and CEO of Growing Power, Inc., and author of The Good Food Revolution: Growing Healthy Food, People and Communities. He will speak at 6 p.m., following a locally sourced, sustainably grown meal that will be served from 4:30-5:45 p.m. See our full news release for more details.

Also on Wednesday, a ‘No-Waste Community Breakfast’
Come enjoy a tasty breakfast and learn more about the food rescue and redistribution movement! Social Work’s newest faculty member, Prof. Sarah Himmelheber, informs us that members of the Social Work Club and others in the UW-Green Bay community will be gathering surplus bakery and other breakfast items from local businesses in celebration of Food Day. The No-Waste Community Breakfast will take place from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday (Oct. 24) at the Mauthe Center. Open to all, while supplies last! There will also be information available on food waste as well as local and national food recovery efforts.
