Event for vets is April 19

The UW-Green Bay student organization Vets 4 Vets is among the hosts of a special event, “You Served – We Care!” from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, April 19, in the Union’s Christie Theatre. A student panel discussion at 10:30 a.m. will follow remarks by guest speaker LTC (Ret.) Cynthia Rasmussen. Formerly a mental health nurse in the Army Reserves for 23 years and currently with the Veterans Administration, Rasmussen will discuss service member/veteran and family reintegration issues; “warrior skills” versus home/school skills; and Combat Operational Stress Reaction, PTSD and TBI among other behavioral health issues. Rasmussen holds bachelor’s and master’s in nursing from Marquette University. The April 19 event is free and open to the public, and open not only to veterans but also to faculty, staff and students who interact with, or serve, veterans.
