Next ‘Laffle’ to benefit Green Bay’s east side schoolchildren

Even though this particular charity drive is still a few weeks away, it’s worth knowing (during back-to-school shopping season) that the people in the Registrar’s Office are gearing up for the fourth edition of their popular Laffle. (What’ a “laffle”? They’ll explain later.) Anyway, the goal this year is to have people think “pair and a spare” — to buy clothes and school items for children you know, sure, but to pick up spare items to donate for distribution to kids in need. Same types of items as have been collected here before: New socks, underwear, sports bras, t-shirts, gently used tennis shoes, gym shorts, hats, gloves, mittens, etc.  Donations of prizes to put the “laugh” in the Laffle are welcome, too. The official start for Laffle #4 will be Oct. 31 and it will end Nov. 21, but organizer Eileen Kolb in the Registrar’s (KolbE@uwgb.edu) will accept your donations anytime.
