Transforming students into ‘citizen scientists’

Here’s an interesting outdoor, family-friendly event. It’s called “Aquatic Invasive Species (AIC) Snapshot Day,” Saturday, August 5. Kids and adults alike will be transformed into citizen scientists by learning to identify, search, and report on plants and critters that cause problems in our lakes and rivers. After the short training session, volunteer citizen scientists will spend the rest of the morning searching for and collecting invasive plants and animals along the shores of local lakes and rivers. Register and find out more. The event is hosted by River Alliance of Wisconsin and the UW-Extension.
